The main switchboard (MSB) is a low-voltage complete device that is used in power supply systems for residential buildings, administrative and industrial facilities. The main switchboard is necessary for the reception, distribution and metering of electricity, monitoring its quality, as well as protecting the network from overcurrent and short circuits.
The main switchboard is installed on the low-voltage side of the transformer substations, it is this equipment that receives the current after the step-down transformer.
Structurally, the main switchboard is several metal panels connected to each other, on which electrical equipment is located, divided into functional blocks. Main switchboards are available as one-way and two-way service. Switchboards are installed in a specially equipped room with strictly limited access.
Depending on the functional purpose and characteristics of the serviced object, the main switchboard may include load switches, electric meters, protective automation, equipment for measuring energy parameters, automatic transfer switch (automatic transfer switch) systems, reactive power compensation installations.
